Our trusted weekly newspaper the Hunts Post has an opportunity for an ambitious trainee reporter who can hit the ground running as part of our news team. Although a trainee you will have great opportunity to really develop your career as a journalist working alongside experienced reporters who will provide great mentoring.

You’ll enjoy bringing in brilliant stories from our communities and find innovative ways to present your content – through print, video, pictures and social media. It’s important that you enjoy being out meeting people and engaging with the community to really bring the stories that matter and show great heart for the audience the Hunts Post serves

The chosen candidate will be someone with qualifications in journalism, specifically you will have your NCTJ and be close to achieving your shorthand.

This full-time opportunity is working a varied shift pattern and will involve working weekends on a rota basis.  You will live in the area and split your time nicely between working from home and our offices in Huntingdon.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • NCTJ qualification or equivalent
  • Looking for first opportunity potentially in a newsroom
  • Ability to produce sparkling copy for our newspapers and websites
  • A strong heart for community journalism
  • Able to produce video and picture content
  • Excellent news judgement
  • Great ideas for print and digital platforms
