Mediabrief is looking for an experienced editor or reporter with strong knowledge of the global pharma and biotech industry to deliver a fast, accurate daily media brief for senior execs.

You’ll scan top-tier sources at wire speed, identify what matters most, and produce a concise, high-quality summary by 08:30 UK each weekday.

Ex-wire journalists, and those who can identify information quickly, are especially encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Compile a concise daily pharma media brief (Mon–Fri) by 08:30 UK
• Track and synthesise developments across pharma, biotech, healthcare policy and global markets
• Deliver clear, accurate copy highlighting the most market-relevant insights
• Collaborate with managing editors to refine focus and ensure quality
• Maintain consistency, accuracy and editorial excellence under tight deadlines.

Required experience

• At least 5 years’ newsroom, reporting, or editing experience (wire service background a bonus)
• Strong subject knowledge of pharma and biotech, including market and regulatory developments
• Excellent news judgement and the ability to produce accurate copy quickly and under pressure
• Flawless written English and meticulous attention to detail
• Independent, reliable and comfortable working to strict deadlines.

Preferred skills

• Experience in financial or healthcare journalism
• Familiarity with online research tools and data sources relevant to pharma and markets
• Strong analytical and organisational skills
• Proactive approach with an interest in improving process and quality

Working conditions

• Fully remote (Europe time zones preferred)
• Around 20 hours per week: approximately 2 hours in the early morning (fixed 06:30–08:30 UK) and 2 hours in the late afternoon or evening (flexible)
• 12-month freelance contract following a 3-week paid trial
• Start date: December 2025
• Competitive freelance rate, from £35 per hour, (higher for senior experience), invoiced monthly, with opportunities for additional hours.
