Is it your dream to be a journalist at a world-leading news organisation?

The Telegraph is recruiting graduates who have that ambition. We want committed people who have a real passion for writing, revealing the truth, meeting people from all walks of life and telling their stories.

Our unique 22-month scheme will give you quality training by our most experienced journalists. Among the Telegraph stars who first joined us as graduates are Political Editor Ben Riley-Smith, Features Writer Bryony Gordon, US Correspondent Josie Ensor, US Editor Tony Diver and Chief Sports Writer Oliver Brown. We hope that you will have a long and exciting career with us too.

We are looking for graduates who enjoy writing under pressure and working to deadlines.

You should be a self-starter, flexible and creative.

You will get experience in many different departments, covering everything from news to features, business and sport. You will also receive experience in digital publishing and audience development.

We expect you to embrace these different opportunities and be enthusiastic about learning new skills.

Requirements

  • A passion for journalism, good judgement, flexibility and resilience.
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification
  • Experience in student, local or other news organisations
  • You must not be an established professional journalist

The scheme includes a 3-month offsite learning experience with other news organisations around the country (this placement may not be in London, in which case accommodation will be provided).

Applications for the programme will close at 22:00 on 10 December 2023. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications after this date.

Please apply with your CV, a cover letter explaining why you would like to work for The Telegraph, and include links to three pieces of work you want us to see.

Assessment Centres will be conducted on 7 March 2024. Unfortunately we are not running further dates if you are unable to attend this assessment centre. The successful candidates will join the team in September 2024.
