A leading online business news platform is looking for a confident, enthusiastic journalist to cover regional business news in the UK and continue to grow its online audience.

You should have some experience in writing news and an eagerness to engage with regional business communities. This online publisher is the go-to platform for SME business news and you will be helping lead the charge as a correspondent working on cross-regional content, but based in the North East.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
– Sourcing original regional business news on a daily basis
– Publishing online articles in a timely manner throughout the day
– Editing and publish press releases received via the newsdesk
– Sharing content across various social media platforms
– Working with regional business and PR contacts to establish key relationships
– Supporting the commercial activities of the business where required
– Carrying out interviews in person, by telephone and via email
– Using Google Analytics to track performance and identify trends
– Contributing to regular editorial and wider team meetings
– Carrying out continuous professional development (CPD) as outlined in reviews and appraisals

The successful candidate should:
– Have a passion for writing and creating online content
– Have excellent writing skills and an eye for detail
– Have a keen interest in business news
– Be proactive in keeping up to date with general trending news and topics
– Be comfortable in all areas of online publishing, including the use of social media
– Enjoy networking and building relationships with contacts
– Be flexible and open to a fast-moving, ever-changing publishing environment

As this role will involve remote working, it is essential that you have a suitable space at home from which to work and a stable internet connection.
