We are looking for a trainee reporter who will be able to source, write, publish and distribute top quality news online and through social platforms. This is not a desk job it’s about networking and meeting people groups across Peterborough and creating relevant and engaging contact that is at the heart of their issues and concerns.
Peterborough Matters is an online news platform that prides itself on creating audience focussed content, not only does it cover current headline stories it also provides information on local traffic, amenities & public affairs that we know the local community want to hear about.
As a digital only news platform, you will be able to produce basic video and photos in the field and use your judgement in determining best digital tools for conveying news to readers. You will also have a strong understanding of social networks to generate story ideas, report in real time and connect with the community.
You will be given the opportunity to create and develop stories and will work closely with the editor who will mentor and develop you as a journalist. You would have already gained a journalism degree or completed your NCTJ accreditation and be looking for a hands-on community–based journalism role.
The ideal candidate will have:
