National Museums Liverpool are looking for an experienced press and media relations professional, with a fantastic network and a passion for arts and culture. You’ll actively contribute to raising the profile of their organisation, their seven venues and their commercial activity to help reach audiences locally, regionally and nationally through inspiring, inclusive and engaging campaigns.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of PR & Communications, you will develop and implement an assortment of creative campaigns to promote the extraordinary work and programmes delivered by National Museums Liverpool.
You’ll actively contribute to raising the profile of our organisation, our seven venues, and help reach audiences locally, regionally and nationally through inspiring, inclusive and engaging campaigns. You’ll ensure a positive representation in the full range of media – establishing and protecting the organisational profile.
We’re looking for an experienced press and media relations professional with a fantastic network and is highly engaged with arts and culture to join us at this exciting time. You’ll get to work on an assortment of campaigns varying in type and size in a fast-faced environment – collaborating with a wide range of colleagues from across National Museums Liverpool group.
Together we’ll create memorable experiences for everyone as well as challenge their expectations.
MAIN DUTIES
- Develop and implement PR & Communications components of integrated campaigns for exhibitions, events, fundraising, venues, retail, venue hire, catering, learning and participation as well as special projects (e.g., House of Memories), as agreed, to achieve income and visitor targets, high-quality and wide-reaching engagement as well as strengthening the brand of National Museums Liverpool locally, regionally, national and internationally.
- Identify and develop newsworthy opportunities from across the organisation to pitch and sell-in to print, broadcast and digital outlets.
- To research, write and manage the distribution of media releases.
- Contribute to content development and publication across social media channels as part of exhibitions, events, venues and projects, as required.
- Contribute to articles and features for syndication across third-party platforms, and our own brand channels.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant journalists, influencers, bloggers and media outlets locally, regionally and internationally.
- Monitor media coverage about National Museums Liverpool and all of its associated work streams – ensuring it is collated and shared with appropriate stakeholders and archived in a timely fashion.
- Measure results and compile reports against targets set, as appropriate.
- Liaise with colleagues, media, partners and external contacts to organise appropriate PR & Communications events and activity.
- Deal with enquiries from the media, general public and colleagues liaising with and advising senior staff.
- Organise and supervise journalists, film and photography crews for events and activities, including selecting, organising and briefing key spokespeople.
- Liaise with other cultural organisations, partners, sponsors and artists’ representatives to coordinate communications and secure favourable coverage.
- Attend planning meetings internally and externally, as required.
- Undertake training and development courses and programmes, as required.
- Support supervision of trainees, volunteers, and work placement students, monitoring and evaluating their outputs and facilitating their training in association with the Head of PR & Communications.
- Adhere to all National Museums Liverpool’s Policies and Guidelines.
- Undertake additional duties from time to time, as required.
