Insider is looking for a fast, independent, smart news reporter to join our breaking news team in the UK.

The news division in the UK includes editors and reporters working across news, sports, and politics. The team values creativity, open communication, and close collaboration.

As a breaking news reporter, you will be responsible for covering some of the biggest stories of the day at speed. One hour, you could be following a major weather event. The next, you could be reporting on a plane crash or the latest influencer scandal. The majority of your posts will go live within an hour, and will start out as short articles that are updated as events unfold.

This person should be flexible, adaptable, and a great communicator. Being part of the news team means working with other news reporters and beat reporters across different desks.

The ideal news reporter:

  • Is an excellent storyteller — good at taking complex events and presenting them in a compelling way
  • Is a news obsessive and already keeps tabs on what’s breaking at any given moment
  • Interprets news quickly and produces clean copy at speed
  • Thrives working on short deadlines and juggling multiple responsibilities at once

This is a full-time role based in the UK. This position is ideal for anyone who wants to jump into a fast-paced reporting role at a growing digital media company.
