Baylis Media Ltd is looking for a news reporter to join its busy team. We are a multi-media organisation with two weekly titles, based in Maidenhead and covering the East Berkshire and South Bucks area.
We publish the Maidenhead Advertiser and Slough and Windsor Express along with their growing websites and busy social media accounts.
Both the Advertiser and Express were nominated for weekly newspaper of the year at the 2019 Regional Press Awards. The Express was named free weekly newspaper of the year in 2018 and was highly commended in 2019.
Owned by a charitable trust, we are one of the few truly independent newspaper publishers left in the country and 80 per cent of our profits go back into the community through grants for charities and good causes.
The Role
As a news reporter, you will have the opportunity to cover everything from breaking news to court cases, human interest features, in-depth interviews and more.
You will play a key role in our ambitious plans for digital growth, using social media, newsletters and digital tools to engage with our audiences and driving subscriptions by giving readers the content they want to read, when they want to read it.
The role is open to NQJ-qualified reporters looking for a new challenge in a supportive environment or an exceptional trainee reporter working towards their senior qualifications.
You will be given the chance to develop your multi-media skills and offered training and support.
Candidates must have at least an NCTJ pre-entry certificate, including 100wpm shorthand, a car and a clean driving licence.
We offer an attractive employment package and employees will be given the tools they need for flexible working.
