We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic writer to join our small but committed editorial team. This year we expect over a million users to read our health and social care content and we need you to help us continue to effectively support people seeking out vital information.

About The Role

In this role, you’ll provide essential health and social care content for everyone affected by terminal illness. You’ll help people understand the financial benefits they can access, ways that they can plan ahead, and how they can manage physical symptoms. You’ll work across a range of formats including digital, print, video and easy read for public and professional audiences

A key part of the role is reviewing our existing content – making sure it’s up to date and adapting it to meet our audience’s needs. You’ll have the ability to understand topics quickly by researching them yourself and talking to health and social care professionals. You’ll work with people affected by terminal illness to understand our audience and their information needs. You’ll write using easy-to-understand language and follow our style guidelines. You’ll have the confidence and experience to manage your own workload and deadlines, and work within our content development processes.

You’ll proactively look for opportunities to improve our content offer for people affected by terminal illness and develop new content when it’s needed.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for someone who can quickly research and understand a broad range of topics and develop relevant and useful content for our audiences. You should be committed to getting things done to a high standard while managing your own deadlines and projects.

Ideally, you’ll have experience working on health and social care content and background knowledge about some of the content we provide. If you’re interested in producing information for health and social care professionals, or have experience in this area, that’s a bonus.

We’re looking for a positive, energetic individual who will contribute to the overall goals of our team and the charity as a whole. You will be able to build good working relationships with key departments, such as digital and design. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to actively support new networks and relationships, internally and externally, with tact and diplomacy

What’s In It For You?

You’ll be part of a hard-working and motivated team. You’ll know that the work you do supports and empowers people at some of the most difficult times in their lives.

You’ll be part of helping us achieve our ambitious vision to increase the reach of our service and help more people.

We’ll support your development with training opportunities, workshops and giving you flexibility to work with other teams or projects you’re interested in.
