The Department: TV

Bloomberg Television is a 24-hour global news channel covering politics, economics and finance. We provide markets news, data and analysis powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in more than 120 countries. Our interviews with C-suite executives, politicians and thought leaders drive the financial news agenda. We aim to be must-watch viewing for those who need to know what’s moving the markets.

We are part of Bloomberg LP’s media business spanning television, digital, magazine, radio and live event platforms. In the midst of an historic time in the news industry, Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach through new innovations from QuickTake to New Economy.

The Role

Bloomberg TV is seeking a Junior Broadcast Journalist to join the apprentice programme in London. This is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of television news and gain hands-on experience in production. We’ll teach you key markets concepts, and editorial skills such as writing scripts, editing video, researching stories and collaborating with other media platforms.

You’ll also learn skills such as organisation, adaptability, creative thinking and the ability to work well under pressure. Administrative tasks which are critical in ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained will also be a part of the role.

To be part of the team, you must have a drive to learn, a passion for television news and a keen interest in business.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above
  • Learners must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject

Success Criteria

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Passion for broadcast news
  • Keen interest in business and finance
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong organisation skills and an eye for detail
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Willingness to work early mornings
