UnHerd is one of the fastest-growing new media outlets in the UK. Covering politics, philosophy and culture from an “away-from-the-herd” angle, it publishes well-known and esteemed writers alongside entirely new voices.

The editorial traineeship is a six-month programme which entails a wide variety of tasks that will give the successful candidate fantastic experience in a successful editorial operation.

We are looking for candidates with a keen understanding of the UnHerd mission and a hunger for news and ideas. If you’re someone who has a knack for reading between the headlines, can pick out interesting nuggets and spot trends that others might have missed, then this might be perfect for you.

Who We’re Looking For

Candidates with:

• A demonstrable interest in politics, news and ideas
• Good writing skills
• Organisational skills (familiarity with publishing software a bonus)
• A self-starter, can-do attitude
• Journalistic experience (welcome but not essential)

What You’ll Do

The successful applicants will receive training in all aspects of digital editorial production:

• Idea generation
• Forward planning
• Editing
• Writing
• Production of podcasts and video
• Social media and SEO
• Graphics and use of CMS
