We have an excellent new opportunity for a communications expert to shape and lead all communications around our ambitious Transformation programme. We need someone with relevant qualifications and experience, either as a journalist or as part of a communications team. You need to have superb writing skills and be able to come up with engaging ideas for content across multiple platforms – with a real focus on our digital audience.

The post sits among our award-winning communications colleagues, who are at the centre of the Council as part of the newly formed Communications and Communities Service. This new team and exciting team have a range of expertise and specialisms, but the common goal is to put our customers and communities at our heart. The successful candidate will also be working very closely with our Project Management Office colleagues.

We are changing the way we deliver our services across the Council. We are becoming more digital with an emphasis on helping residents carry out tasks with us at a time and place that suits them. As the communications lead for the Transformation programme, you will be tasked with driving forwards all internal and external communications around this ambitious work. You’ll be keeping our colleagues up to date internally, developing website and social media content, and working closely with our Councillors too. All the communications you will help plan and deliver under the Transformation programme will align with the Council’s ongoing Business Plan priorities.

We know how important it is to find a job where you feel valued and have the flexibility to achieve a good work/life balance. With that in mind, we’re adopting a hybrid, flexible approach, based on our new Communications and Communities Team Charter. We work in the best place for the job rather than having hard and fast rules about being in the office five days a week. As a result, this role will see you given the true flexibility to work from home and one of our offices as required. There are many more benefits to working for us too, not least our structured pay scales, secure, generous pension and flexible hours.

Please note that we welcome applications for hours up to full-time too.

If you have previously applied for this application – we thank you for your interest but are afraid that previous applicants need not apply.
