This new opportunity for a Business and Energy Editor will form their own team and take a leading role in developing a new reader-revenue supported business content strategy.

This region is at the forefront of the alternative energy industry, with £54bn of investment planned in the area over the next 20 years, generating around 6,000 jobs. We are home to the biggest offshore windfarm development in the country, Sizewell C Nuclear plant is planned for Suffolk, and we have one of Europe’s biggest Hydrogen plants – which will help to deliver the UK’s net zero energy goals.

What Will I Do?

  • Seize the opportunity for our brands across the East of England and develop a collaborative relationship with the major players to launch new digital products.
  • The new editor will be responsible for identifying the type of business sector content that will power a new business app to deliver a paid subscription-based audience, as well as creating compelling content for our print titles.
  • You will be full of ideas about how to produce engaging content across different products and platforms, be comfortable sat alongside corporate CEOs as well as telling the stories of the family-run business leaders.
  • We are looking for someone who knows how to make business content interesting to readers outside of the business community.
  • You will also work with our commercial teams to attract business sponsorship and advertising revenues to fund our products and services.

What Skills Do I Need?

  • Background as an Editor / senior lead
  • A passion for the renewable energy sector
  • Ability to use data & analytics to inform decisions
  • Able to deliver multi-platform content campaigns
  • Proven experience of breaking into new sectors
  • NCE fully qualified journalism qualification
  • Able to drive
  • Reside in the East of England – easily be able to commute to our Norwich and Ipswich office

Where Will I Work?

The East of England has two of the most influential regional media brands in the country, with the Eastern Daily Press serving Norfolk and the East Anglian Daily Times operating across Suffolk.

You will live in either of these counties and we are offering a relocation package to attract the very best candidate possible for this role – so consider coming to live in this beautiful part of the country.

Our Norwich and Ipswich offices are located close to major bus routes and train lines.
