Insider is hiring an associate weekend news editor in the UK to help run the site on the weekends.

The news division in the UK comprises a growing team of editors and reporters working across desks including breaking news, sports, and politics. The team values creativity, open communication, and close collaboration.

As associate weekend news editor, you will work closely with our team of UK-based weekend news reporters and weekend editor. On an average day, you could expect to assign, write and edit stories on a wide range of topics, from hurricanes to foreign affairs to celebrity news. The ideal candidate should be passionate about the daily news cycle, comfortable working with a variety of story formats, and have a knack for telling stories in a relatable and compelling way that readers love.

This role will be varied, fast-paced, and will require you to coordinate with Insider’s global news team.

The position reports to the weekend editor and runs on a Wednesday to Sunday schedule.

The ideal candidate has:

• Proven experience in covering and editing news stories for a digital publication
  
• Great news judgement
  
• Excellent writing and editing skills
  
• A love of Insider and what we do
  
• A desire to work collaboratively with the team in the UK as well as reporters and editors from the wider global newsroom
  
• Excellent organisational skills
  
• Familiarity with social media distribution
