Would you like to take an early step in a career in communications with a five-month placement in Milton Keynes Council’s communications team? The friendly and professional team is looking for an extra pair of hands at a busy time when we’re working on a new website, helping MK recover from COVID-19, and planning some high-profile campaigns. We’re looking for people with a communications qualification or six months’ experience in communications, PR, or marketing (which may have been unpaid). You’ll be fully supported but also given the freedom to make your mark on interesting tasks from writing copy for the new website to filming creative videos.

Key Duties

• Preparing content for social media, filming videos, writing and editing copy for the council website, evaluating the success of marketing campaigns and much more

Experience, Qualifications and any Mandatory Requirements

• A communications qualification (not necessarily a degree) or 6 months of related experience (which may be unpaid)

Skills Required

• Great written communications skills, ability to plan work, understanding of how social media works, basic graphic design skills (desirable)
