Are you an energised and ambitious writer with a passion for events and travel? At C&IT we’re seeking a Senior Reporter to join our team, to enhance our online channels and help grow the brand.

C&IT is the foremost brand in the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) space. Our team produces compelling content across our multimedia portfolio, including written reports, video interviews, filmed tours and podcasts which showcase the very best of the events sector.

Responsibilities

The Senior Reporter is responsible for publishing daily stories and bulletins, producing in-depth industry reports, and managing the social media accounts, as well as supporting junior reporters. They will also be required to carry out high-profile interviews, to host events, and travel regularly. They will work under the Editor to deliver exciting and relevant industry content that drives audience engagement. For the right person, it could be an opportunity to specialise in the meetings and events space, or to step up to the next level of responsibility.

Duties for the Senior Reporter include:

  • Managing the website content, including publishing 2 original articles per day and sending out daily and weekly bulletins
  • Conducting surveys and producing targeted industry reports
  • Interviewing people for both written and filmed content
  • Writing articles as required
  • Helping the Editor to run the social media channels
  • Supporting the in-house events team with planning and hosting C&IT events
  • Support the editor in delivering the brand’s strategy
  • Monitoring the editorial inbox and maintaining key relationships

Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria

The ideal candidate would have the following experience and qualities:

  • A talented communicator who can thrive in a team when working in different locations
  • Eager to take ownership of a patch
  • As comfortable writing sparkling copy as with informative, data-driven content
  • An eagle eye on changing trends and opportunities
  • Have a flair for connecting with people and building positive relationships and working with external organisations
  • Have experience of writing to daily deadlines, or managing a section/junior (preferred)
  • Must be able to attend events in the UK and abroad
  • Relevant qualifications, such as NCTJ or a degree in journalism is preferred, but a creative content background will be considered
  • Excellent grasp of social media strategies and how to maximise reach and a grow audiences
