We want to address the underlying causes of the world’s natural resource exploitation. Join Global Witness as a Senior Investigator in our Forests team.

About Global Witness

Our goal is a more sustainable, just and equal planet. We want forests and biodiversity to thrive, fossil fuels to stay in the ground and corporations to prioritise the interests of people and the planet.

We want justice for those disproportionately affected by the climate crisis: people in the global south, indigenous communities and communities of colour, women and younger generations. We want corporations to respect the planet and human rights, governments to protect and listen to their citizens, and the online world to be free from misinformation and hate.

For us to succeed, we need to embody the principles we fight for. Global Witness strives for cohesion, solidarity, and inclusion as only together can we protect one another and the planet to build a better and more just future.

About the role

You will play a leading role in ensuring Global Witness’ investigative work on the destruction of climate critical forests is of the highest standard and has a real impact.

You will be the focal point for Global Witness’ production of country-focused or field-based investigations into tropical forest destruction, primarily but not exclusively focused on Latin America. You will work with colleagues and partner activists, some based in tropical forest countries, to produce impactful exposés of deforestation and of its perpetrators’ links to the international banking system and consumer supply chains.

About you

We’re looking for an investigator who has experience of publishing high profile exposés that have made a real-world impact. You will have an eye for detail, leading on publications that are accurate and rigorous. But you’ll also have an eye for the bigger picture, with the ability to spot opportunities for investigative stories that will cause a splash and influence policy.

You’ll have first-hand experience of carrying out investigations in tropical forest-rich countries and be able to work effectively with local researchers or other partners to help save what’s left of their forests.

Finally, you’ll have a strong affinity to Global Witness’ values, working collaboratively internally and externally to achieve maximum impact.
