Zitamar News is a leading independent news outlet covering Mozambique and the Southern African region, providing in-depth coverage of political, economic and social developments. We are looking for a Production Editor Intern to join our team, who will manage and enhance our online content and social media presence, as well as contribute to our marketing efforts.

The Production Editor Intern will be responsible for managing our website and social media accounts, drafting entries to our Live Blog, monitoring the homepage, and producing high-quality digital content. They will also be responsible for implementing and managing SEO and keyword optimisation strategies, researching and analysing the market and competition, and planning and executing a social media marketing plan.

This is a part-time Production Editor Intern position, which can become a permanent position after an initial 3 months. During the internship, the payment will be £10.50 per hour and after the internship, a discussion will take place to establish a permanent salary and position.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial:

  • Manage posting content online and on Zitamar’s website
  • Manage posting on social media
  • Draft entries to the Live Blog
  • Monitor the homepage and keep it looking good, interesting and relevant
  • Imaginative production and enhancement of digital content
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues throughout the production process

Marketing:

  • Research and implement SEO and Keyword optimisation
  • Analyze the market and the company’s competition
  • Research, plan and implement a Social Media marketing plan
  • Manage the company’s Social Media presence and strategy

Qualifications and Skills:

Must-Have:

  • Minimum 1 year production editor experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education level in English, Journalism, Marketing or related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent level of English, both written and verbal

Desirable:

  • Fluent in Portuguese
  • Marketing experience
  • Social Media Management
  • Knowledge of Mozambican political, geographical, industrial and economic environments, or the willingness to constantly be up to date with the latest developments in the country.
