Are you passionate about solving poverty? We have an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant media team! Whether you are an experienced media handler or just starting out your career, whatever your background, we are looking for people with the skills and enthusiasm to drive forward our mission to solve UK poverty.

We are a small, committed media team who like to think we pack a punch with our media work, using JRF research to amplify the voices of our policy experts and experts by lived experience. The role could be a Media Officer if you’re just starting out or a Senior Media Officer if you have a few years’ experience under your belt but either way, we are looking for someone with a passion for telling stories who can make a real impact.

Purpose Of Job

Working with colleagues to devise and drive forward campaigning and influencing strategies through the media, reaching decision makers and opinion formers as well as guiding public opinion by telling compelling stories about poverty.

To enhance JRF’s relationships with journalists, commentators and other interested parties in order to build public and political understanding of issues of interest to JRF.  To follow and monitor current affairs and the media landscape, bringing in intelligence for the wider organisation to use in support of its goals.

About You

You will be someone who has a great instinct for a news story, but who also brings another dimension. Do you have experience of op eds, have great contacts with commentators, or have been successful pitching longer features? Maybe you have experience of living on a low income or have a particular insight about how we can make a difference for those who are? What do you think we would be able to do better if you joined our team?
