As our company experiences rapid growth, we are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Content Editor to join our fast-paced environment and lead our content strategy.

Role Overview

As the Group Political Content Editor, you will oversee, develop, and lead the editorial and style for written, live, and video content across DeH, OPP and FF.
Collaborating closely with the Director of Product and Service (DeH and OPP) and Managing Directors (FF), you will ensure the highest standards of content are maintained. You will be responsible for commissioning and delivering diverse content, including briefings, events, and videos, while also training and developing our policy teams to enhance their writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

Content Management

  • Deliver content as outlined in the content calendar.
  • Lead a team responsible for proofing all non-monitoring work produced by DeH/OPP and notes published by FF.
  • Develop and oversee joint style guides for both brands.
  • Manage content delivery at party conferences and major events.
  • Lead on key set-piece days such as Budget Day, Commission Work Programme, and the King’s Speech for DeHavilland.
  • Copy-edit social media and marketing materials as needed.
  • Serve as the content lead for product developments.
  • Collaborate with UK and EU Policy Teams to capture and develop content ideas.
  • Increase engagement and read rates for DeHavilland and OPP briefings.
  • Seek client feedback to drive content improvement.
  • Maintain DeHavilland UK’s PeoplePoint databases.

Management and Training

  • Line manage direct reports and freelance sub-editors.
  • Upskill and develop the UK and EU Policy Teams in written, digital, visual, video, and event content.
  • Conduct regular training sessions online and in-person with all parts of the business.
  • Play a key role in the onboarding process for new Policy Team members.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years in public affairs, politics, journalism, or content roles.
  • Proven ability to make high-level editorial decisions quickly.
  • Extensive experience in commissioning and overseeing written, visual, and audio projects.
  • Excellent sub-editing and proofing skills.
  • Strong editorial experience and workflow management.
  • Ability to give and seek constructive feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong interest in politics and public affairs.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education or practical equivalent.
  • Additional public affairs qualifications are desirable.
  • Experience in politics or public affairs, and copywriting is a plus.
  • Good experience with InDesign is advantageous.
