We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, creative professional to lead our award-winning Communications and Marketing Department and to develop the strategic direction for all marketing and communications activity across York Museums Trust. With strong journalistic experience and excellent people management skills, you will play a critical role in supporting YMT to become an audience focussed organisation.

You will take responsibility for marketing and communications activities across a range of media, utilising our audience insight data to achieve our visitor number, diversity and income targets and growing YMT’s reputation for innovative content led digital communications.  You will also manage our media relations and build relationships to raise our profile locally and nationally.

The ideal candidate will have a PR, Journalism or Marketing qualification and/or experience in those areas, along with a thorough understanding of the media landscape, including digital media. You will bring ideas about how YMT can develop its communications and marketing activity to achieve its ambitions, and be able to back these ideas up with the ability to deliver. You’ll have experience of leading a team and developing and implementing effective communications strategies, along with proven experience of developing strong relationships with the media.
