We are an online news and analysis website, and publish daily articles by experts from universities across the UK and Europe. Our stories are written for a general readership, and we aim to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the public via a newsroom of editors.

We are looking for a Commissioning Editor to join our Science desk. You will come with ideas and a strong interest in science journalism and you will be working alongside other science and health editors. You will be keen to promote your daily published stories to a wider audience.

You will be an excellent editor, able to promptly translate complicated ideas into accessible language for a general audience. On a day-to-day basis, the role will involve devising and developing ideas, responding to pitches, and working with academic experts on their stories.

About You

  • Able to digest complex ideas and translate these for a general audience
  • Demonstrable editing skills from working with academic material or in journalism
  • Excellent grasp of the English language
  • Highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks/stories

You must be legally able to work in the UK. To apply, please email a CV and cover letter to uk-work@theconversation.com. Please mention Journo Resources when applying, it really helps us out.
