Journo Resources is happy to share their latest offering as part of the newly launched JR Pitch Club, a 12-month support package for freelance journalists packed with benefits to help writers find more work, make more money, and feel creatively fulfilled.

Offered as part of the Journo Resources Membership, members of the Pitch Club benefit from community, practical expert advice and accountability exercises led by the Journo Resources team to feel more confident and creative within their practice.

Now, the JR Pitch Club is to host its first interactive ask-me-anything drop-in session with award-winning writer and editor, Faima Bakar!

Taking part on Discord on Thursday 26th February at 1pm, JR Members can use the 45-minute live Q&A to ask Faima anything about journalism – without feeling weird. Whether you are just starting your career or have been grinding away for years, this friendly session can help upskill your career at the leisure of your lunchtime.

Having worked as Head of Features at the Daily Mirror, an editor at the i Paper and the Big Issue, plus with clips everywhere from the Metro to Stylist and Women’s Health to the Guardian, Faima is a trusted guide in the industry. From pitching etiquette to the best timeframe to chase an editor, and whether to nail your interviews before or after securing that commission, Faima can answer all that comes to mind.

The JR Pitch Club is run by a team of experienced freelance journalists at Journo Resources, each with more than a decade of experience of working in journalism. Alongside staffers Jem Collins, Kayleigh Watson and Ben Sledge, guest experts for Journo Resources in 2025 have included Sophia Smith Galer, Chris Stokel Walker, Will Coldwell, and many more.

Membership to JR Pitch Club costs just £75 for 12 months – a 10 per cent saving on our usual six-monthly plans – which freelancers can list as an expense on their tax return. This includes:

• Deep-dives into new approaches to find more work, giving you the lowdown on what works and what doesn’t.

• Monthly online workshops from freelance experts, spanning topics from finding work on LinkedIn to honing pitches, building up alternate income streams, or developing an online presence.

• Real community through the Discord and regular co-working sessions to get feedback on pitches, hold ourselves accountable, and put in the good work.

• Ask-me-anything drop-in sessions with esteemed industry professionals to get all your burning questions answered.
