With a popular website and highly-read series of weekly mailings, our subscriber base is growing. We serve arts professionals working in or with the arts sector, across all art forms.
Known for high-quality investigative journalism and research-based coverage of issues facing the sector, we provide an independent voice on subjects ranging from arts funding, workforce diversity and cultural policy, to audience development, income generation and the value of creativity for our wellbeing and communities.
We are now looking to appoint a talented and ambitious journalist to lead our small news team. In particular, we are looking for someone with a ‘first time right’ approach to writing and editing high quality content.
Particularly if you have prior knowledge of the arts sector, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to develop their editorial leadership skills and experience.
With a background in news journalism – preferably B2B – the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of journalistic values and best practice, and be familiar with all the basics of digital publishing.
About The Role
Arts Professional is part of an employee ownership trust, with no private shareholders. We envisage this as a full-time (40 hours per week) role. However, as an employer which supports flexible working, we are open to considering proposals e.g. for compressed hours or alternative patterns of working subject to these being sufficiently flexible to meet the requirements of the job. Applications are welcome from candidates of any background.
Paid annual holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus all statutory/public holidays (usually 8 days per year), plus an additional day at new year and any Christmas office closure. Holiday entitlement increases with length of service.
We encourage staff to engage with arts, culture and visitor attractions and provide financial support for ticket purchases.
