Membership Ambassador is an exciting role working for a fast-growing social enterprise local news organisation, Social Spider CIC. Our members are people and organisations in local communities who support our publications based on support for local news and a belief that their area needs a high quality, independent local news publication.
About The Role
The main responsibilities of the roles are:
- Promoting newspaper membership to local people
- Promoting organisations membership to local businesses and community organisations
- Managing relationships with members
- Developing the membership offer
Key activities include:
- Online promotion of the membership offer
- Attending local meetings and events to promote membership
- Organising events for members
- Email marketing
- Creating new memberships rewards
- Communicating with editors about how membership is promoted in print
The role will involve a mixture of working from home and working from our offices at The Mill, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, London E17 7HA.
Social Spider CIC is a social enterprise developing a new, sustainable approach to local news with five publications – Waltham Forest Echo, Barnet Post, Enfield Dispatch, Haringey Community Press and EC1 Echo – that are committed to holding power to account, promoting knowledge and understanding within communities, and amplifying the voices of local people. All profits generated by our publications are spent on continuing and growing our local news publishing activities.
Skills And Experience:
This is a role for someone who is confident about talking to local people, and building partnerships with local businesses and community organisations – and is interested in local news and media. The essential requirements for the role are:
- Presentation skills,
- Public speaking ability,
- Good communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Creative thinking
- Ability to work independently
It would also be useful for applicants to have some of the following:
- knowledge and understanding our local communities
- interest in local news
