Threadneedle Media is looking for a sharp, enthusiastic and highly organised digital writer to join the editorial team behind Foodism and Escapism – two of London’s leading lifestyle titles – working across their websites, print magazines and social media channels.
We may close applications early if the right candidate is found, so early submissions are encouraged.
Location: Hybrid – London-based, with two days a week in our Clapham office
Working Hours: 8:45am–5:30pm, with occasional evening events, press trips and assignments abroad
Contract Type: Permanent
The Role:
This role is for a journalist with a couple of years’ experience in food and drink or travel media, who’s already well-versed in the London scene and hungry to take the next step in their career. You’ll be a strong all-rounder with solid digital publishing experience, a track record of writing compelling features, and a working knowledge of SEO, analytics and social strategy. You’ll also bring plenty of ideas to the table – and the drive to turn them into stories that resonate with our readers.
In addition to writing for our websites and magazines, you’ll play a hands-on role in developing and executing digital strategy, helping grow our audience and extend the reach of our content. You’ll also contribute to branded content campaigns and client work, and may have the chance to work across our luxury lifestyle titles Square Mile and HEDGE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pitch, write and publish original food, drink and travel features for the websites
- Translate magazine content into digital-first articles with SEO in mind
- Use keyword research and performance data to guide commissioning and content decisions
- Help define and implement digital strategy across Foodism and Escapism
- Manage and grow social media accounts, with a focus on Instagram
- Create a regular calendar of posts (Reels, Stories, static) to boost visibility and engagement and reporting on key performance metrics
- Build and engage our online community, including influencer outreach and comment moderation
- Write and produce the Foodism newsletter and commercial newsletter campaigns
- Support commercial partnerships with branded content and native articles
- Attend and cover events, openings, press trips and tastings on behalf of the brand
- Collaborate closely with the editor and wider editorial team on content planning and execution
- Collaborate on print production from start to finish: ideation, composition, subbing, and proofing
What We’re Looking For:
- 1-3 years’ experience in editorial, ideally with a focus on food, drink or lifestyle
- Strong writing and editing skills with a clear, engaging tone of voice
- A proven interest in London’s food and drink culture – restaurants, bars, producers and trends
- Passionate about Instagram and social media trends, with an understanding of how content can serve an editorial purpose
- Familiarity with SEO, keyword research and using analytics to inform content
- Experience publishing via a CMS (e.g. WordPress, Squarespace)
- Confidence with social platforms (especially Instagram) and content planning
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team
- An understanding of how to tailor stories for different audiences and platforms
Desirable (But Not Essential):
- Confident in shooting and editing short-form video content using mobile apps like CapCut for Instagram
- Experience working with commercial teams on branded or native content
- Familiarity with tools such as Buffer, Google Analytics, Google Keyword Planner, Google Trends or Trello
What We Offer:
- A permanent role in a small, ambitious editorial team
- Opportunities to shape digital strategy and content output
- Access to London’s best events, restaurants, bars and press trips
- A hybrid working model with time spent in our Clapham office
- Career development support and the chance to grow with the brand
- A collaborative, creative working culture
