As we continue to grow our audience and explore new ways of reaching them, we’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic Business & Commercial Features Reporter to provide engaging content for Connect, Jersey Evening Post and Bailiwick Express.
The job is diverse. You will be out and about at the heart of the community, writing about everything from business start-ups and the future of AI to weddings and those individuals whose careers are anything but ordinary.
While the role focuses on feature writing, motivated individuals will also have the opportunity to:
- Record Bailiwick podcasts.
- Get involved with events and initiatives such as Leadership Jersey and the JEP Pride of Jersey Awards.
- Contribute ideas and develop initiatives to help us reach new audiences and generate additional revenue.
What we want from you
Candidates must have a flair for writing, an understanding of the Island’s business community and a drive to tell people’s stories in a creative way. You must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
We’re keen to nourish and grow talent in all its forms and remain open to hearing from self-starters or career-changers who can demonstrate their ability to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in producing audio and video content would be a plus, and a full driving licence is desirable.
What you’ll get from us
Through joining AIM’s dynamic, diverse and inclusive team, you’ll not only get to write about Island life but you’ll be able to experience it too. Our social team organises a varied calendar of events and activities – including an annual trip to France – on top of ‘Wellbeing Wednesdays’, weekly drinks and a monthly book/film club. And if you think there is something missing from our social activities, just let us know. We are always open to new ideas.
Other benefits include:
- Employee benefit trust: All members of the team are shareholders of the company and will be able to benefit from its success
- Regular in-house learning opportunities and copy clinics to help you grow
- Flexible and accommodating working environment
- Modern offices in the heart of town
Company information
All Island Media is the proud parent company of the Channel Islands’ most prominent news brands, Bailiwick Express and the Jersey Evening Post, and the array of titles which sits under them.
Our newspapers, websites, magazines and podcasts together draw in around three quarters of people in Jersey every week and more than half of islanders in Guernsey.
They are very different products with different values and different strengths – but all are united by a commitment to rigorous, independent and challenging journalism that keeps our communities informed and engaged, while providing exceptional reach for advertisers.
The Jersey Evening Post is the Island’s oldest and most recognisable news brand. The daily newspaper was founded more than 130 years ago, and it remains at the heart of the island community to this day.
In recognition of that position, it was recently shortlisted in the Regional News Media Organisation of the Year category of the prestigious Society of Editors’ Media Freedom Awards 2023, having scooped the coveted title in 2021 in the previous incarnation of the awards.
The merger with Bailiwick Express in 2022, and creation of the AIM umbrella, brought the JEP back into local ownership for the first time in 20 years, heralding a new era for the newspaper, with exciting plans to reinvigorate its content to ensure it maintains its central community role.
Jersey’s top business magazine and the official partner of the Chamber of Commerce, Connect, sits in the Bailiwick Express stable. As the newbie on the media scene, having only launched in 2014, online-only Bailiwick Express is the “challenger” brand, having rapidly built a reputation and audience through punchy, insightful news, features, explainers and podcasts with “bite”.
Accessible, engaging and often provocative, its content is delivered daily into the inboxes of tens of thousands of Channel Islanders through its free lunchtime news email.
