This is an exciting opportunity to help set the news agenda for four market-leading healthcare brands.

The right candidate will be experienced in setting a daily news agenda, be confident in delivering exclusive investigations and have top-quality writing and editing skills.

Working under the editor, they will manage a team of reporters to deliver news stories, news analysis and blogs for the publications’ websites and daily newsletters.

There will be plenty of scope to work on new projects, such as roundtables, podcasts and social media campaigns for the various audiences which include nurses and managers working within general practice, senior NHS managers and community pharmacists.

The news editor will work on Nursing in Practice, which is a print and digital publication, and the digital-only publications The Pharmacist, Management in Practice and Healthcare Leader as well as work within our wider editorial team which includes the company’s other healthcare publications; Pulse, Pulse Intelligence and Pulse PCN.

The right candidate will have at least five years’ experience in journalism and be looking to extend their news editor experience. Trade journalism and/or health journalism is preferred, but not essential.

Experience

Essential

  • At least five years’ experience in journalism;
  • Experience in editing news articles
  • A track record of delivering exclusives
  • A track record of delivering investigations and/or campaigns
  • Experience in managing a reporter/reporters

Desirable

  • At least one years’ experience in a news editor role;
  • A background in trade journalism;
  • A background in health journalism;
